The design and documentation of this $500,000 upgrade to an existing courtyard and City Road frontage for the University of Sydney aimed to provide a flexible space for outdoor markets, functions, club nights and concerts, as briefed by Student Services. An outdoor stage was incorporated, with toilets and storage accommodated into the space. Shade structures were added to complement existing pergola structures. New gates control entry and facilitate ticketing for events. Planting, walls and level changes are used to form and divide spaces, creating discrete and separate areas within the courtyard.
