Crowle Gardens Meadowbank presented an opportunity to create an engaging terraced private communal gathering area. A split level site, existing heritage elements and established trees, privacy considerations, water sensitive urban design and long view lines provided the ingredients for this great outcome.

The central Village Green is set out with a series of grassed sitting edges overlooking the lawn, ephemeral water areas and garden beds breakaway seating is provided at the base of the stair and the far end of the lawn. A secondary lawn and seating area is located alongside the under croft area and set against a lush generous planted backdrop that also forms a buffer to nearby unit’s private courtyards. A timber decked bridge structure spans the ephemeral water element and creates a visual point of interest within the Village Green areas.
